Sofia Mano

Sofia lived most of her life in Sintra, near the ocean, the mountains, forests and lakes. Which turned out to be some of her biggest sources of inspiration along with movement, art, music, silence, poetry and all different life forms. She believes that there’s something greater than what the eyes can see and that nature around us reminds us of that everyday.

At 23 years old she went travelling alone for the very first time: Laos, Thailand, and Bali, but spent most of her time in Ratu Bagus Ashram at the foot of Mount Agung. Since then she chose to live in the United Arab Emirates for more than 3 years but spent them visiting all the corners of the world. More than 50 cities and 40 countries later, the world map that looked endless turned into a grain of sand and all these years and experiences proved themselves to just be immense journeys into the depths of who we are. These were the years where a stronger and deeper wish to know more of yoga took place in Sofia’s heart.

Sofia finished her masters in Clinical Psychology in the beginning of 2014 and did her academic internship at Hospital de Santa Maria, in the psychiatric service. Her final thesis studied the impact of body, group cohesion, and leadership in the positive outcomes of therapeutical contexts. She worked in Emirates Airlines as a flight attendant and took part in the mental health department at the group of psychological support to flight attendants.

In October of 2017 she concluded her first 200hrs teachers training, in August of 2019 the training in Svastha Yoga Therapy (400hrs), in September of 2019 an advanced yoga teachers training (300hrs), and in November of 2022 she finished her first 200hrs training with Manu School of yoga and followed to learn guided by Manuel Rodrigues in the certification process that is now undertaking.

Sofia gives yoga classes, teaches and learns. Her academic background in clinical psychology brings, inevitably, a psychotherapeutic component to all that she does. Her biggest wish is to be able to create, through yoga, a safe and contained space where people can dive deep in a sincere journey of self-knowledge and exploration.
